Comcast

July 1, 2009 by Goose Creek Music

Liney and I met with Stan Rogers from Comcast yesterday, and we’re really pleased with their enthusiastic support for the local music scene in Northern Virginia.  Look to see Goose Creek Live videos from Franklin Park on Comcast Channel 2 very soon, and we’re also hoping to work with Stan and his crew to do new shows in new places.

I’m sitting here tapping my foot waiting for the new Sam Grow Band Live at Goose Creek CD’s to arrive from the manufacturer…Sam and the band absolutely nailed their performances, and there’s an energy to the recordings that is just difficult to get in the studio.  They were mastered by David Glasser at Airshow’s Boulder studio.  You’ll be able to pick them up at Sam’s gigs this summer, and we’ll hit iTunes, CD Baby, our own little Goose Creek Record Store, and some surprise storefronts on August 22.

Head to one of Sam’s gigs near the beach this summer and pick up  CD.  Then bring it along to the launch party, and get a free DVD of his Goose Creek Live performance at Franklin Park.

Cheers,
Mike

The First Concert Series

May 19, 2009 by Goose Creek Music

Everyone who came, everyone who participated, everyone who hung out at the first Live at Goose Creek concert series…thanks.  That was a blast.

We’re deep into post production…Liney is sorting through layers of video every morning, and we’re looking at mixes at night.  Stuart Martin and I will spend a whole day in the studio on Tuesday, going through the David Kitchen tapes (wow…he was good), and the final tweaks of Sam Grow’s live album.

Everything feels a bit like I’m going slightly too fast on a bicycle…and there’s more to come.

Watch this space…cheers,
– Mike

Welcome to Goose Creek – January 2009

January 2, 2009 by Goose Creek Music

January, 2009 – Welcome to Goose Creek

Jeff Sherman’s studio album is our first published work, and we’re about to have a very busy spring recording three live albums and video shoots.  You can read about and hear the amazing music of Sam Grow, One Horse Town, and David Kitchen elsewhere on the site…this page is my chance to tell you why we’re here.

We live in an tumultous era for music producers…technology has twisted the rules of the music business in all directions.  Production costs have plummeted, while the rapid evolution of communication technology and the ubiquity of our global network constantly create opportunities for performers to connect with their audiences.

We have new media outlets, devices, and distribution techniques merging to create new models for the music business.

Traditional music recording and publishing companies are struggling, as CD sales quickly decline, and download sales fail to pick up the slack.  New media outlets provide a constant stream of opportunities to publish and license recordings, but the general public often has free access to versions of an artists work, and it’s not always clear how the investment in media creation is to be monetized.

People are starting to wonder if recorded music will just be free.

We’ve launched Goose Creek Music in the middle of all this confusion with confidence that we can succeed by publishing good works of music performed by gifted artists.

Our job at Goose Creek Music is to find the new and emerging business models that work for musicians and their fans, and to create great musical experiences for both.
